The Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (Ideas) has endorsed Transport Ministry’s Kuala Lumpur Transport Strategic Plan (Asean Transport Strategic Plan) 2016–2025 to pursue the Single Aviation Market’s goal.

The plan also aims for greater air connectivity to facilitate business and leisure travel for Asean citizens.

Ideas said in a statement yesterday that the Asean Single Aviation Market will create a healthy competition and provide airlines more freedom to conduct international flights within Asean.

“This will create more opportunities for airlines to expand by opening more flights between their home bases and other Asean cities.

“Individual travellers as the main consumers can look forward to enjoying cheaper air-fares and having more airline choices when decided to travel in Asean,” the non-profit organisation said.
