Othman Abdullah, the point person for the Islamic finance business at Singapore-listed Silverlake Axis Ltd, has been recognised as an “Upcoming Personality” at a recent Islamic finance award in Kazakhstan recently.
Othman, the MD for Islamic banking at Silverlake Axis who also writes a regular column for The Malaysian Reserve, received the recognition at the Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA) 2017.
At the same time, Silverlake Axis took home for the second year running the Best Islamic Finance Solution Provider.
Founded in 1989, Silverlake Axis has created a niche in core banking implementations.
The company was listed on Singapore’s Stock Exchange (SGX) SESDAQ in 2003 and moved up to the SGX mainboard in 2011.
In less than two decades after its inception, the company said more than 40% of the top 20 largest banks in South-East Asia run its core banking solution.
GIFA was founded in 2011 by Edbiz Corp Ltd as part of its advocacy for Islamic banking and nance.
