Apple Inc co-founder Steve Wozniak will be one of the speakers at the upcoming 13th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) to be held in Kuching in November.
Wozniak, together with Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne, founded the computer giant in 1976. Apple, which gave the world the Apple computer, iPhone, and iPod, is the biggest US company based on market capitalisation with a value of almost US$820 billion (RM3.43 trillion).
Wozniak, who designed the Apple II, is expected to share the impact and challenges of disruptive changes in the economy.
WIEF Foundation in a statement said Wozniak will share his insights on championing creativity, as well as his experience in driving change, spearheading innovation and empowering the people.
“The effects of disruption have rippled through every aspect of modern civilisation — just look at how personal computing has fundamentally transformed everything from the economy to how society functions from the ground up,” Wozniak said in the same statement.
Meanwhile, WIEF Foundation chairman Tun Musa Hitam said since its inaugural edition, the forum has grown in size and scope to become a platform that connects world leaders and industry players from different economies.
“Wozniak’s presence underscores the WIEF’s track record of championing collaboration particularly in times of disruptive change,” he said.
The customised session titled “Face to Face” consists of an in-depth dialogue with international participants regarding the dynamics of global business and its emerging issues, Musa said.
Other speakers at the forum include Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak, Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Openg, Tatarstan President Rustam Min- nikhanov, Seychelles President Danny Faure, Comoros President Azali Assoumani and the Islamic Development Bank president Ahmad Mohamed Ali Al-Madani.
This year’s forum will be held on Nov21-23, 2017, at the Borneo Convention Centre in Kuching, Sarawak.
The WIEF Foundation organises the annual WIEF and initiates capacity building programmes under the WIEF initiatives of the Business-women Network, Young Leaders Network, Education Trust and Round-table Series.
