Digi.com Bhd and its subsidiary DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd have announced the appointment of Lars-Ake Valdemar Norling as chairman of the board to succeed Morten Karlsen Sørby, who has been DiGi’s chairman since August 2015.
In a statement released on July 11, DiGi said Norling, 48, was Telenor Group executive VP for developed Asia cluster, and director and CEO of Total Access Communication Public Co Ltd, Thailand (DTAC).
A Swedish national, Norling joined fixed broadband provider Bredbandsbolaget in 1999, where he held various senior positions such as CIO, CTO and COO.
In 2006, Norling was appointed as head of Telenor Sweden’s xed network and a year later, he took on the position as CTO of Telenor Sweden.
He subsequently served as CEO of Telenor Sweden from 2009 to 2014, and was CEO of DiGi before joining DTAC.
Norling was appointed to DiGi’s board on Aug 19, 2015. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Gothenburg School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg, a Master of Science (MSc) in engineering physics from Uppsala University and a MSc in engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
