Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB) has selected “Services by Airbus” to provide Flight Hour Services (FHS) components support for its new fleet of six A350 XWB aircraft and its existing fleet of 18 A330.
MAB MD and CEO Peter Bellew and Airbus executive VP head of programmes Didier Evrard inked the agreement at the Paris Air Show yesterday.
In a statement, MAB said the long-term agreements cover guaranteed spare parts availability for an extensive scope of A350 XWB and A330 line replaceable units, plus maintenance and logistics services at MAB’s main base and selected outstations.
“Ensuring a smooth entry- into-service for our new A350 XWB fleet will enable us to deliver the highest performance of our A350 operations from day one, while minimising the upfront investment. We are confident that Airbus’ tailored and cost-effective FHS support services will also optimise the ongoing operation of our A330 fleet,” said Bellew.
“We are very pleased that MAB has entrusted its A350 and A330 components support to Airbus. This significant endorsement by MAB further reinforces Airbus’ leading position in the services market in Asia,” said Evrard.
The FHS agreement with MAB will further build the “Services by Airbus” presence in Malaysia. This already includes an extensive maintenance and overhaul facility (Sepang aircraft engineering) and a customer services subsidiary offering specialist engineering design and modification work, both located at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
