SPASB claims RM44m in damages from MAHB

Friday, April 21, 2017

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has been issued a writ of summons by Syarikat Pembinaan Anggerik Sdn Bhd (SPASB), amounting to RM43.99 million for alleged losses and damages from works undertaken at the Penang International Airport.

In an exchange filing yesterday, the airline operator said SPASB is claiming losses from the proposed development and upgrading works at the Penang airport, including the proposed construction and completion of a site office, central utilities building and airside drainage works.

MAHB noted that it has obtained a preliminary view from its legal counsel, who considers the company as having a reasonably good prospect of defending against the suit. It noted that it has instructed its solicitors to represent the company in the legal action, with further updates regarding the suit to be made from time to time.
