The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) remained higher at mid-morning today, driven by escalating buying momentum in selected blue chips and key heavyweights.
At 11.05 am, the key index was 5.45 points higher at 1,711.99, after opening 3.3 points easier at 1,703.24.
Among heavyweights, TNB added 24 sen to RM12.74, Petronas Gas gained 46 sen to RM23.06, Sime Darby perked 10 sen to RM8.85, MISC Bhd rose seven sen to RM8.90 and IHH Healthcare was up one sen to RM6.21.
On the scoreboards, the FBM Emas Index garnered 37.28 points to 11,771.80, the FBMT100 Index expanded 37.16 points to 11,476.54 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index advanced 64.85 points to 12,536.75.
The FBM 70 improved 43.42 points to 12,679.06 and the FBM Ace increased 18.45 points to 5,829.11.
On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index gained 25.64 points to 14,526.25, the Plantation Index improved 12.93 points to 7,475.91 and the Industrial Index increased 24.52 points to 3,345.3.
Gainers outpaced losers 324 to 263, while 307 counters were unchanged, 903 counters untraded and 25 others suspended.
Turnover was at 777.55 million shares worth RM507.43 million.
Among actives, iDimension and Metronic were both flat at 11 sen and 7.5 sen respectively, while Instacom added one sen to 22 sen, Xox earned 1.5 sen to 14.5 sen and AirAsia rose four sen to RM1.35.
